New from Gibson for 2013, the N-225
I often talk about how disappointing it is that large guitar corporations like Fender and Gibson have essentially given up on innovation and instead are focusing on throwing together different pieces of existing guitars and calling it a new model (see the Fender pawnshop series as an example of this).
However, this new showing from Gibson is a pleasant surprise. While I personally think its quite ugly, I do appreciate the fact that its not just following Gibson’s usual formula of making a new reissue of a les paul with nothing changed except a higher price tag. I like the combination of a Hot humbucker in the bridge with a vintage output P90 in the neck (the same pickup combination on the only signature model I’d actually consider buying from Gibson) and the fact that its a full hollow body is interesting (and actually a little surprising considering the high output pickups).
While I wouldn’t consider this guitar a huge success for Gibson, its definitely a step in the right direction.

Some VERY sweet guitar tones from the Jeff Tweedy signiture SG and played by none other than…….Jeff Tweedy!!! Courtesy of the top blokes at Chicago Music Exchange, they make great videos!
not a big fan of SG’s or Signature Model guitars in general, but I would love one of these

I wish I could get that neck pickup aftermarket, the only one Ive found is a Seymour Duncan custom shop model and its mad expensive.
